Well, the below traits will tell you about the differences between a tub faucet and a sink faucet.

Tub Faucet

A tub faucet is also known as a shower faucet which works normally. Like, turning the water on and off, regulating the temperature of the water, and so on.

Usually, the tub faucets are mounted on the deck located behind the tub. That’s why most people refer to the tub faucet as a deck mount faucet or the Wall Mounted Faucet as Freestanding Tub.

However, there are different types of tub faucets available in the market along with the deck mount. Like freestanding,  Wall mount, Roman Tub Faucet, etc

Sink Faucet

Sink faucets are not so different from tub faucets. They are also used to turn the water on and off with regulation of water flow. Sink faucets have variations too. Such as ball faucets, disc faucets, pull-out faucets, pull-down faucets, cartridge faucets, and so on.

Difference Between Tub Faucet And Sink Faucet

Something that can be highlighted as the difference between tub faucets and sink faucets is their working procedure.

How A Tub Faucet Works

Tub faucets come with a trim. While using this faucet you have to turn the trim on so that water comes out. A tub faucet should have come with two pipes, e.g. cold water pipe and a hot water pipe.

When water is pulled down with the trim, the cold water goes through the cold water pipe and the hot water goes through the hot water pipe.

Well, water coming from both the pipes centers at the shower valve mixes together and goes to the tub spout. This tub spout is the area from where the water flow starts and then the water pressure directs this water flow.

How A Sink Faucet Works

On the other hand, a sink faucet has a spout from where the water comes out. Besides, it has knobs and handles which are used to regulate the temperature and flow of water.  Most often, the sink faucets are used to clean dishes, rinse hands, fill pans and pots, etc.

A sink faucet is a way placed as a functional part to control and run water. It can be used in the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and so on.

Water Flow In Tub Faucets

Compared to a sink faucet, a tub faucet requires more water flow and it actually does that. Because the pipe attached to the tub faucets is a bit larger than the pipes of the sink faucet. You will see most of the tub faucets have a ½” of pipe attached. That is the reason why the water flow in tub faucets is higher.

If you fill a pot with water from the sink faucet and at the same time another pot under the tub faucet, which one would fill faster? Obviously, the tub faucet would fill faster.

Water Flow In Sink Faucets

As said before, the pipes attached to the sink faucets are not as large as the pipes attached to the tub faucets. This makes the water flow in the sink faucet less than the water flow in the tub faucet. However, the pipe attached to the sink faucets is ⅜”.

We know, having excessive water flow from a sink faucet can make our tasks messier. Because the sink faucets are not used to fill anything like the tub faucets. That’s why it is inevitable to use a smaller pipe in sink faucets.
